KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS

"We are brothers in the Knights of Columbus.
Together we represent Charity, Unity, Fraternity and Patriotism.
We pledge our efforts in the name of God.
Amen."

The Knights of Columbus has been in existence since 1882 and is the largest lay Catholic Family Service Organization in the world. St. Mary's has had an active Council since 1997. The areas of Church, Community, Council, Family and Youth are the areas from which the membership selects to concentrate its efforts.

The Knights of Columbus is not a secretive organization. However, the induction ceremony of the candidate for membership is privileged only to members of the Knights of Columbus. The basic structure of the Knights of Columbus is established on the principals of Charity, Unity, Fraternity, and Patriotism. Each principal represents a level or degree in the membership of the organizaion. Charity represents the initial level of membership or degree; Unity, the second degree; Fraternity, the third degree and Patriotism is the fourth and final degree.

Membership is open to any Catholic man who is at least 18 years of age. He must also live in accordance with the Commandments of God and accept the precepts of the Church. New members are always welcome in the Knights of Columbus at St. Mary's Church. A membership meeting is held on the first Thursday of the month and a social meeting is held on the third Thursday. Those interested in additional information or in joining may call Grand Knight Fran Laperriere at 437-9319 (home) or 986-7141 (cell).

Knowing the Knights

Why do they call themselves the Knights of Columbus?
